  • Curriculum Vitae Prof. Jean Pisani-Ferry

    Jean Pisani-Ferry is director of BRUEGHEL (for Brussels European and Global Economic Laboratory) and professor with Université Paris-Dauphine. He is member of the European Commission's Group of Economic Policy Analysis and of the French PM's Council of Economic Analysis. He is also a vice-president of the French economic association.

    Pisani-Ferry has made his carrier in research and policy. After holding positions at the Centre d'études prospectives et d'informations internationales (CEPII, Paris) and the Commissariat général du Plan, he was appointed in 1983 head of the macroeconomic department with CEPII. In 1989, he joined the European Commission as economic adviser to the Director-General of DG ECFIN. From 1992 to 1997 he was the director of CEPII, the main French research centre in international economics. In 1997, he became senior economic adviser to the French minister of Finance and in 2001, executive president of the French prime minister's Council of Economic Analysis (2001-2002). In 2002-2004, he was senior adviser to the director of the French Treasury.

    Pisani-Ferry has held teaching position with various universities including Ecole polytechnique in Paris and Université libre de Bruxelles. In 2002-2003, he was a member of the Sapir Group appointed by the president of the European commission.

    Born in 1951, Pisani-Ferry was initially trained as an engineer at the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité. He also holds a Diplome d'études approfondies in mathematics from University Paris 5, and he is a former scholar of the Centre d'études des programmes économiques (CEPE).

    His main research topics include economic policy, European integration, employment policy, and globalisation.
